About Jaroslav Barbic

A Glimpse
into My Passion

Photography runs in the family — my grandfather was already a professional photographer. But my own journey started somewhere entirely different: between the pages of GEO magazines, where I disappeared for hours as a child. Those images sparked a deep longing for the unknown, for adventure. I wanted to explore the world — and at some point, the dreams became reality. My passion for the Alps didn’t come from growing up in Schaffhausen, but from the distance. Our local “neighbourhood hill” rises just 521 meters and only breaks through the fog on autumn days. I wanted more — so I started climbing and searching for real mountain adventures. As a trained chef, certified hotelier, and dedicated alpinist, I combine experience from gastronomy, tourism, and the alpine world. Photography has been my form of expression for many years — not through formal education, but through observation, practice, and passion. I worked in hotels across the Alps, spent every free moment exploring surrounding peaks, and began documenting these moments through the lens. Today, my photography stands for authenticity and a deep connection to the mountain world. I reach places where others turn back, capturing not only images but moods — and I understand what it takes to resonate emotionally with guests. Let’s create photographs that aren’t just seen — but felt.
